Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

Ages 3 - 6

Would you like to help your child deepen their relationship with God? We invite them to come experience Christ’s personal love in a unique way during our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd sessions!

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd offers religious formation for children (infants through age 12). It is grounded in the Bible and the liturgy, framed by Dr. Maria Montessori’s educational principles. CGS offers children the opportunity to hear the Gospel and absorb its message. This is accomplished through prayer, the use of sensorially rich materials, songs, the work of the child’s hands, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Catechists are certified with the National Association of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, and guide the children through specific presentations on the Bible, the Infancy Narratives, the Eucharist and the Sacraments, the liturgy and life of the Church, the Paschal Mystery, geography, prophecies, parables, and Baptism. Children are given the opportunity, and language, to enter into prayer on their own, and as a group. They meet in a carefully prepared space of community and worship called the atrium, located in one of our classrooms.

Mary, Mother of the Church currently offers Level I (Ages 3-6) of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
