Resources for Wedding Couples and their Families
Are you engaged? Excellent! Congratulations! |
Getting Started
When you first contact the parish about your wedding, we will send you a packet of documents:
Our Welcome Letter and FAQ (PDF) addresses the questions that are most often asked by newly engaged couples.
To reserve the church and get on your presider's calendar, please complete the Wedding Reservation Form (PDF) and mail it, along with your deposit, to the parish office.
Your packet will also include a brochure about a marriage-prep program sponsored by the La Crosse Deanery, called “Married Love: Two Becoming One”.
Your Initial Meeting with Your Presider
At some (early) point, you'll meet with your presider, either Father Brian Konopa or Deacon Terry Bell. At that meeting you will receive the following documents:
Our "Next Steps" (PDF) letter explains the process of preparing for marriage.
Two options are available for taking a class on Natural Family Planning (PDF).
Our practices regarding weddings are explained in the Guidelines for Planning Your Wedding Liturgy (PDF).
When choosing Liturgical Music (PDF) for your ceremony, we invite to consult with our Director of Sacred Music, Mary Jo Lium.
Two options are available for the Prayers of the Faithful (PDF), also known as the petitions.
Please make sure that we have your Wedding Planning Form in the Parish Office at least 6 weeks prior to your wedding date. The proper form to use depends on whether your ceremony will take place within Mass (PDF), or a matrimonial rite without Mass (PDF).
Your Final Meeting with Your Presider
Before meeting with you for the final time, Father Konopa or Deacon Bell will review your wedding folder to make sure the checklist of needed items has been completed: forms returned, fees paid, and all preparation requirements have been completed (FOCCUS, NFP, Weekend Marriage Prep, etc.). We'll contact you if anything is incomplete.
